In response to public requests and growing support, NAF will host the next major marathon walk on International Women’s Day, underlining the importance of women’s health.

The 2026 walk aims to:

  • Increase community-wide awareness
  • Promote routine screening
  • Break cancer-related myths
  • Strengthen partnerships across counties
  • Reach even larger audiences than before

NAF looks forward to empowering even more families through this event.

Year: 2024

Location: St. Monica Church, Kitengela

To reach more women and families, NAF conducted a faith-based breast cancer awareness campaign at St. Monica Church. The event was supported by St. Therese Dispensary, Fairfield Medical Center, Family Yetu Sacco, and educators from Huma University.

Church members expressed a strong desire to learn more about breast cancer due to existing fears and misconceptions. Screening services were offered, and NAF committed to expanding church-based awareness activities.

Date: 4th October 2023

Location: Kitengela Sub-County Hospital Grounds

This was one of the earliest breast cancer campaigns linked to NAF’s future advocacy work. Organized in partnership with the Young Populace Foundation, the event brought together over 700 community members on a busy market day. Screening services, nutritional counseling, and general check-ups were offered.

Despite the large turnout, few women accepted screening due to fear and common myths. This event revealed the urgent need for ongoing education and helped shape NAF’s long-term strategy of continuous awareness creation in Kajiado County.

After years of running stationary screening camps, NAF introduced a new concept—the Breast Cancer Awareness Marathon Walk.

This approach reached thousands of residents as the walk passed through populated areas, creating visibility and sparking countywide conversations about breast cancer.

The marathon drew attention from across Kenya. NAF’s CEO received calls from Kilifi, Bungoma, and Nyamira counties, requesting similar events. The increased visibility also led to a rise in women seeking screening at Mawepi Medical Center.

Due to overwhelming public demand, NAF committed to organizing another walk the following year.

Date: 8th December 2023

After the October campaign, many breast cancer survivors reached out seeking help after mastectomy procedures. Through a partnership with the Mercy Steps Cancer Program, NAF received 200 high-quality breast prostheses.

The distribution was officially launched by Assistant County Commissioner Mr. Crispus Mwanzoya. The gesture restored dignity and confidence for many survivors. NAF continues to seek more partners to support this program.

Kasuito Village is one of the most underserved communities in Kajiado. Since 2023, NAF — in partnership with Mawepi Medical Center and Kitengela Seventh-day Adventist Church — has consistently supported the Kasuito Children’s Home and Day Care Center.

 Support includes:

  • Food donations
  • Medical check-ups & immunization
  • Deworming
  • Menstrual hygiene education
  • Counseling
  • Social and emotional support

During the 2023 drought, NAF delivered emergency food to families, helping the village survive a critical period.

Year: 2024

Location: Ikito Village, Isinya

During a church mission visit, the NAF team discovered that many families in Ikito Village were suffering from hunger due to prolonged drought.

In response, NAF mobilized Mawepi members and partners to donate food items—such as grains, flour, milk, bread, and soap—to affected households.

Families expressed deep gratitude, and the initiative highlighted NAF’s commitment to emergency support during crises.

During routine visits to Mawepi Medical Center, it was discovered that many school-going girls lacked access to sanitary pads. NAF reached out to Zana Africa and received 200 sanitary pad packs, which were distributed to girls from Saitote and Saidiya villages.

This initiative helped reduce school absenteeism and boosted menstrual hygiene confidence among vulnerable adolescents.

Chief Guest: Kajiado County First Lady Edna Lenku

Date: 6th October 2023

Location: Kitengela Sub-County Hospital Grounds

NAF officially launched its first large-scale breast cancer awareness and screening campaign in 2023. The event was presided over by the Kajiado County First Lady, Edna Lenku, who encouraged women to embrace early screening and break cultural barriers that hinder health-seeking behavior, especially among Maasai women.

Senior county officials—including Dr. Lydia (CEO, Kajiado County Referral Hospital), Family Bank representatives, and the Office of Gender, Culture & Youth—attended and pledged ongoing support.

The First Lady urged NAF to hold more campaigns each year due to the low awareness rate of approximately 3% in Kajiado.
